Small but powerful wetlands can trap pollution

Researchers from the University of Waterloo published studied the potential of small and isolated wetlands, which are often removed for development or agriculture.

Using a new method involving satellite imagery and computer modeling, researchers found that since these small wetlands are disconnected, pollutants such as nitrogen and phosphorous get trapped.
