Dive Into Nature-Based Solutions for Water Treatment at Stengården, Denmark

Aarhus University, along with Danish Regions, utilities, and regulatory bodies, is hosting an on-site event from 10:00 to 14:00 on 11th September at Stengården in Region Sjælland, Denmark. The event is set to explore the role of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) in advancing water treatment methodologies.

This timely gathering will showcase several leading European Union projects, including UPWATER, NATURE, and MULTISOURCE, which concentrate on utilizing NBS within Denmark to tackle emerging contaminants in water sources. These projects stand as a beacon of progress, providing pivotal data that supports the continuous evolution of water management practices.

The event’s agenda is packed with discussions on the latest innovations in NBS for wastewater and stormwater treatment, as well as their application in producing drinking water and mitigating contaminants from groundwater. These discussions aim to foster a deeper understanding of how natural systems can be harnessed to enhance water treatment processes, thereby promoting a more sustainable and water-smart society.

“Nature-Based Solutions are essential in our pursuit to create resilient water management systems that not only meet our current needs but also safeguard our water resources for future generations,” stated Kai Bester, a key organizer and a professor at Aarhus University. Alongside him, Andrea Mongelli, an expert in water resource management, will contribute to the event with insights into the integration of these systems into existing infrastructure.

Attendance is limited, and those interested in participating are encouraged to register early by contacting upwater@envs.au.dk. For those eager to learn more about the potential impacts and outcomes of the event, further details are available on the Aarhus University website. This gathering is a crucial step forward in Denmark’s commitment to pioneering environmental innovation and collaboration in water treatment.
